Take a free guided tour of Melbourne’s historic Melbourne Town Hall, one of the city’s most iconic buildings and the site of many of Melbourne’s proudest moments.
Learn about the building’s unique history as you visit the Grand Council Chambers and stand in rooms once visited by royalty. You’ll even get to stand on the Portico Balcony where the Beatles stood in 1964, waving to thousands of screaming fans below.
Experience the grandeur of the wood-paneled Council Chamber, sit in the Lord Mayor’s chair and view the richly carved Melbourne Town Hall Grand Organ, the largest grand romantic organ in the southern hemisphere. Rooms included in the tour are subject to availability
The new Town Hall Commons holds a focus on a collection of contemporary work by Aboriginal artists, which gives an Aboriginal voice to the fresh and democratic meeting place for Melbourne.
Tours are available Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 11am to 12pm and 1pm to 2pm. Tours can accommodate up to 10 people. Tours are not available on Tuesdays, weekends and public holidays.
