Address: Swanston Street and Flinders Street, Melbourne, 3000, VIC

CT Tours, Halfday

Discover Aboriginal Victoria on one of the Koorie Heritage Trust’s Aboriginal Walking Tours in the heart of Melbourne.

The tours offer an insight into the rich and complex history of the world’s oldest continuous living culture. The tour takes visitors through Federation Square and down to the Birrarung Wilam Aboriginal art installations where they will learn the history of Birrarung Marr and the Kulin nation.

These tours offer an introduction to Aboriginal culture and discuss how European settlement has impacted on Aboriginal people of Victoria.

Led by local Aboriginal guides, each guide will share their personal perspective, where visitors will learn about how the land on which Melbourne is located has changed over time. They will also gain a deeper understanding of Melbourne’s importance as a meeting place and location for social, educational and cultural events and activities.

Visitors will also benefit from the knowledge and insights only an Aboriginal guide can provide, ensuring a connection to place.

The tour ends at the Koorie Heritage Trust where participants can be immersed in the Trust’s permanent collection, public gallery and shopKOORIE.

The tours are held each Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 1:00pm (except public holidays). Duration: one hour. Bookings essential.
