Words Out West

The  award-winning Words Out West was once again a resounding success in March 2024 for readers, writers, and word-lovers alike, right here on the Western Downs.
Words Out West: Western Downs Readers and Writers Fest takes a novel approach to storytelling, with a host of events for all ages and interests.
The main Festival Day offers local and national storytelling talent featuring a number of well known Australian celebrities.
Immerse yourself in the day-long Writers Retreat, with a creative writing masterclass for the adults — and for the first time — a tailored short story workshop for high-schoolers.
For a taste of how Words Out West does things differently, order at the bar and pull up a seat at one of the Schooners and Stories sessions offered around the region.
With free Author Tour and School Days across the region, there’s something on offer for all word-lovers: big and small.
