Set in the prestigious Melbourne neighbourhood of South Yarra, The Royce has a quiet status as the city’s premier luxury boutique hotel, its interiors inspired by its namesake, The Rolls Royce.
The 88-room heritage property, once Melbourne’s original luxury automobile showroom in the 1920s, underwent a full renovation in 2023. Rooms and suites now pay homage to the grand hotels of London, Paris and New York, with terraces and balconies overlooking St Kilda Road, the Shrine of Remembrance and the Melbourne cityscape.
Historic details and the building’s art deco character are retained in the Loft Suites – once the service bays for the luxury cars – the ballroom, and The Showroom (restaurant). Dining is an all-day service, starting in the conservatory in the mornings, and moving to the restaurant just before noon, where it lingers till dinner.
Alfresco dining is offered in good weather in the courtyard and on the boulevard, with cocktails and bar bites into the night. There are Dutch Lekker bikes for guests wanting to explore the neighbourhood or Albert Park, and a 24-hour Technogym for those preferring to work out indoors.
The Melbourne CBD is 23 minutes by tram, with both the tram stop and train station (Anzac) situated on the hotel’s doorstep. Melbourne Airport is a 29-minute car trip away.
