Murgon… so named from an aboriginal word meaning ‘lily pond’… is located on the Bunya Highway approximately 245 kilometres north-west of Brisbane…just over 2.5 hours from city or sea. Murgon District has a population of approx. 3500 people. It is a town with great facilities and amenities.

The Murgon district is a diverse farming region including olive and grape growing, cattle grazing, pig production and various crop farming including peanuts, lucerne, cotton and duboisia plantations.

Murgon is a friendly rural community surrounded by amazing scenery including spectacular views from the Tableland area. Murgon offers so much to see and do…including the surrounding cellar door vineyards at Moffatdale & recreational activities at Yallakool Park on Bjelke-Petersen Dam along with the Queensland Dairy & Heritage Museum.

The South Burnett enjoys a warm dry climate where clear starry nights give way to perfect sunny days.
