Yarraman, a picturesque country town about two hours drive from Brisbane, a little over an hour from the Sunshine Coast and less than an hour from the Bunya National Park.
The Palms National Park is located half an hour from Yarraman and one of the smallest National Parks in Australia, containing remnant vegetation especially palm trees that once would have dominated the area. The noisy Pitta, a shy but colourful ground bird is also found within the Palms National Park.
In and around Yarraman there are a large number of fascinating places to see and interesting things to do, including walk, cycle or horse ride the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, scenic drives, off-road adventures, National Parks and walks in the State Forests and fresh water fishing in the creeks and dams around the area.
Agriculture has long been a key element of the area with dairying, cropping of navy beans, peanuts, sorghum and other grains. In recent years some farmers have diversified to including macadamias and avocados.
Yarraman is a Hoop Pine timber town and still has an active sawmill servicing the South Burnett region and beyond.
Do yourself a favour and take a relaxed trip into the country and visit this beautiful part of the world.
