NAIDOC in the City
Start date: 14 Jul 2018 / End date: 15 Jul 2018
Elizabeth Street, Sydney 2000
Bujari gamarruwa –‘good day’ in the Sydney Aboriginal language.
NAIDOC in the City is a free celebration of the world’s longest living cultures through food, song, art, dance and stories, in the heart of the city.
Taste treats from an earth oven, join in a dance circle, watch cooking demonstrations with bush tucker and cooking guru Aunty Beryl Van-Oploo. Enjoy live performances by Microwave Jenny, Sue Ray, Mission Songs Project and Electric Fields.
Bring the kids along to try their hand at painting and weaving or join the sporting action in the sports clinics.
This year’s theme, ‘Because of her, we can!’, celebrates the invaluable contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.
This is the first time NAIDOC in the City will be celebrated on a Saturday; they hope to see you there.
