Celebrate love in all forms with Love and Art, a stirring series of after-dark events exploring how romance and connection have inspired artistic creation.
The evening begins with a screening of The Tightrope Dancer (1989), Ruth Cullen’s intimate documentary capturing Myers’s life, artistic process and uncompromising creative worldview. Followed by an in-depth panel interview unpacking the contemporary influence of Myers’s work. The Library’s latest exhibition Rebel Heart: Love Letters and other declarations, featuring Vali Myers’ love letters, will be open to guests before the event and during the interval.
Presented as part of State Library Victoria’s Rebel Heart program series, these intimate evenings feature beloved local creatives whose work speaks to romantic, familial and platonic love.
In partnership with Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA), State Library Victoria’s second iteration of Love and Art will go beyond the canvas and explore the creative legacy of Myers.
