Step inside the writer’s world with State Library Victoria’s Beyond the Page series. Over three evenings, hear from incredible storytellers as they delve into their latest work and discuss their creative process.

Named as one of Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists, join acclaimed author Natasha Brown in conversation about her latest novel, Universality.

Late one night on a Yorkshire farm, a man is brutally bludgeoned with a solid gold bar. A plucky young journalist sets out to uncover the truth surrounding the attack, connecting the dots between an amoral banker landlord, an iconoclastic columnist and a radical anarchist movement. She solves the mystery, but her viral longread expose raises more questions than it answers.

After following the journalist’s path through scandal, finance and anarchism, you’ll have the opportunity to continue the investigation yourself. Ask Natasha Brown directly about the novel’s provocative themes and the deeper inspiration behind her acclaimed work in an audience session.

Copies of Natasha’s books will be able to purchase from Readings at the event. Doors will open from 6.30pm. Drinks will be available to purchase on the night.

This event will be livestreamed.
